INTERNSHIPS
The Marin County School-to-Career Partnership
is a collaborative effort between school districts, businesses, public
agencies, and non-profit organizations in Marin County.
The Partnership works as the “bridge” between the employer
community of Marin and the schools. Businesses and organizations are engaged
to provide a wide range of opportunities to students and teachers including:
internships, job shadows, and school presentations.
Internships are offered to high school students during the school year
and in the summer. Interested students need to go to the College/ Career
Center and fill out an application. A School-to-Career staff member, the
Business and Education Liaison who is assigned to the Tamalpais Union
High School District’s schools, will coordinate the request and
contact the student directly.
One of the largest School-to-Career high school programs is the Summer
Internship Program. Each summer, students participate in a 6–8 week
internship that has been offered by over 140 organizations and businesses
throughout Marin County. Employers are recruited to participate in creating
true internship and mentoring opportunities for students. Companies like
Autodesk, Kaiser Permanente, Industrial Light and Magic, Marin General
Hospital and Mattell offer opportunities. Students are required to attend
an educational component and will received high school credit for their
participation.
