WHO ATTENDS TAMISCAL?
The student population at Tamiscal High School is quite diverse, and students usually have more than one reason for choosing independent study…

One group of our students found themselves bored in the typical high school classroom because they understood the material the first time through and found it difficult to endure repeated explanations throughout the day. These students want to go at an accelerated pace, which independent study allows them to do. Another group of our students found themselves falling through the cracks at the large high schools because they needed more individual attention in order to do well. Yet another group attends a professional development career program such as The San Francisco Ballet School, Dance Theater 7, one of a number of music schools, or is training for a career in professional sports such as tennis. Still another group suffers from chronic illness which makes attending school every day too much of a challenge. We also have students who just don’t fit into the atmosphere of the typical comprehensive high school. So for all of these reasons, Tamiscal High School provides a solution.
