Flow Chart Assignment
Introduction: Regardless of the business in which you work, there
is a chain of command. This chain of command is often reflected
in a flow chart. Following you will find examples of two flow
charts. One is a flow chart of the organization of the Legislative
Branch of the Maryland State Government which indicates who is
responsible for what activities within that government; the other
is an example of the organizational structure of the Executive
Team at SaskTel International as found on the internet.
Assignment One: Create a flow chart that indicates the chain of
command at your job. Be sure to include yourself in this flow
chart. You may be at the bottom of the chart but the chart should
indicate the person(s) to whom you answer directly as well as
the people to whom they answer all the way through to the top.
This assignment will probably take some investigation. You will
need to include names and titles. If your company is a large one
you may follow the chain from the top through to your team only.
For example, if you worked in the Marketing, Sales, & Business
Operations division at SaskTel International, you would not need
to follow the flow through each of the other divisions. [If your
company is a one or two man operation, substitute the chain of
command at Tamiscal High School. (Dont forget to go beyond the
principal to the top level in the district.)]
Assignment Two: Write a paragraph in which you explain why it
is important to understand the chain of command on your job.
